Widgion + Facebook Messenger Integration Guide

Connect Widgion with Facebook Messenger to manage conversations and respond to users in real time.

The Facebook Messenger integration allows your Widgion chatbot to receive and respond to messages sent to your Facebook Page in real time. Once connected, every conversation initiated on Messenger is routed into Widgion, where your AI chatbot or human agents can handle responses.

This integration ensures that customer conversations from Facebook are managed in one place, making it easier to provide fast and consistent support.

Requirements

Before connecting your Facebook Page, make sure a few requirements are in place. You need an active and published Facebook Page, along with Admin access, as Editor or Moderator access is not sufficient.

You should also have access to Meta Business Suite and have already created a chatbot inside Widgion before starting the connection process.

Connect Facebook Messenger in Widgion

Log in to your Widgion account and open your project. Navigate to the Integrations section, then select Messenger and proceed to connect it to your chatbot.

If this is your first time connecting to Facebook, you will be prompted to grant Widgion permission to access your account. Review the requested permissions and continue with the setup.

During the process, you’ll be asked to choose which Facebook Pages to connect. You can select specific pages or opt to connect all available pages, which is recommended.

If you’ve previously connected pages and need to update your selection, choose Edit previous settings to modify access. After selecting your pages, review the permissions, click Save, then finish by selecting Done or Got it and allow a few seconds for the integration to complete.

Manage Connected Pages

Once the integration is complete, you can manage your connected Facebook Pages from the Messenger section inside Widgion. This is where you can view and select the pages linked to your account.

You can then subscribe your chatbot to specific pages, as only subscribed pages will be able to receive and send messages through the chatbot.

Configure Response Behavior

You can control how incoming messages from Messenger are handled by your chatbot. By default, all messages are routed to a human agent, but you can update this behavior to allow the AI chatbot to respond automatically.

With the Human Agent option, all incoming messages are handled manually, while the AI Response option enables the chatbot to reply in real time. Choose the option that best fits your workflow and support strategy.

Disconnecting Messenger

You can disconnect Messenger at any time by going to Manage Integrations and selecting Disconnect. Once disconnected, access is disabled and your chatbot will no longer receive messages from the connected Facebook Page.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues, start by checking your permissions and setup. Missing messages are often caused by incomplete permissions, so make sure everything was properly granted during the connection process.

If your bot is not responding, verify that AI auto-response is enabled or confirm that a human agent is available to reply. If your page is not showing, ensure you have Admin access to the Facebook Page.
